CKA Saturday Night at the Movies

As part of our on-going summer programming, Congregation Kol Ami will be hosting Saturday Night at the Movies. On Saturday evenings throughout the summer, we will be viewing Israeli/Jewish themed films. We will also have a separate area setup for the any younger viewers with more age-appropriate viewing for them. There will also be a babysitter in attendance in the children’s viewing area to help out the younger ones where needed.

Kid’s Movie: Ralph Breaks the Internet – Video game bad guy Ralph and fellow misfit Vanellope von Schweetz must risk it all by traveling to the World Wide Web in search of a replacement part to save Vanellope’s video game, “Sugar Rush.” In way over their heads, Ralph and Vanellope rely on the citizens of the internet — the netizens — to help navigate their way, including an entrepreneur named Yesss, who is the head algorithm and the heart and soul of trend-making site BuzzzTube.

Jellyfish – A story set far from the conflicts that define our view of Israel, it lets us into the lives of three women, connected to the sea.

Kid’s Movie: The Secret Life of Pets – Max the terrier must cope with some major life changes when his owner gets married and has a baby. When the family takes a trip to the countryside, nervous Max has numerous run-ins with canine-intolerant cows, hostile foxes and a scary turkey. Luckily for Max, he soon catches a break when he meets Rooster, a gruff farm dog who tries to cure the lovable pooch of his neuroses.

August 10, 2019 – 7:00 PM

Beaufort

Beaufort – This tense, claustrophobic story of young IDF soldiers assigned to an isolated outpost in Lebanon takes us into the burden of Israel’s “low-level security conflict.”

Kid’s Movie: Kung Fu Panda 3 – Living large and loving life, Po (Jack Black) realizes that he has a lot to learn if he’s going to fulfill the next challenge from his beloved instructor (Dustin Hoffman). After reuniting with his long-lost father (Bryan Cranston), Po must transition from student to teacher and train a group of fun-loving, clumsy pandas to become martial-arts fighters. Together, the kung-fu brethren unite to take on the evil Kai (J.K. Simmons), a supernatural warrior who becomes stronger with each battle.
