Marisa Papell grew up in Houston, Texas at Congregation Emanu El. She earned a Bachelor’s degree in Food Business Management from The Culinary Institute of America and a Master’s degree in Hebrew Letters from Hebrew Union College. At HUC, she served as student rabbi for Congregation Beth Shalom in Bryan, Texas; religious school teacher and youth group advisor at Rockdale Temple in Cincinnati, Ohio; Judaics Director at Camp Livingston in Bennington, Indiana; and Shabbat chef for University of Cincinnati Hillel. She completed a unit of Clinical Pastoral Education at Jewish Hospital and served as Rabbinic Intern at Temple Sholom in Cincinnati. She is excited to begin her rabbinate at Congregation Kol Ami in Flower Mound, Texas and looks forward to this fun, exciting, and rewarding journey.
