From the Rabbi:
Dear Kolamites,
Z’man matan ha-Torah/the time of the giving of Torah is upon us once again! Shavuot begins Sunday, June 1. We honor it, celebrate it, and receive its blessing by gathering to study Torah in all its diversity!
This year, our Torah learning seminar is Sunday, 8PM-Midnight! As in the past, we will be following a seminar format. FOUR hours, FOUR teachers! PLUS – desserts and beverages to go with them!
This year we feature special guests, Dr. Guy Chet and Dr, Rachel Moran from the of the University of North Texas. Dr. Chet will be analyzing the poignant, puzzling, and problematic passage in Judges chapter 11, the story of Jeptha and his Daughter. Dr. Moran will be presenting on feminism, the battle for women’s health, and the Jews who changed our lives.
So please sign up and let us know you are coming. Also let us know if you are bringing any offerings: snacks, beverages, and other ways of living deliciously as we bask in the sweetness of Torah!
Holiday kindling and kiddish begins promptly at 8PM. Do not disappoint the Holy One of Blessing at this crucial moment.
