Learn to Make a Challah
Casey Flancbaum, our Youth Director and VP of Membership Support, is doing just that and supporting our community by hosting a live Zoom broadcast on how to make a challah on Friday, March 20, 2020. She makes our challot for services, so we can all vouch for her skills. Learn from the expert!
Please Note: If this is your first Zoom video conference, please go the link 10 minutes early. That way, if you need to download any software or do any setup, you will give yourself enough time.
Here are the details from Casey:
Tomorrow we bake!
We’ll start at 11:00am central time via Zoom (Archived Video of Challah Making). After everything rises we can get back on Zoom to braid together if you’d like! Braiding video (Archived Braiding Video) will start at 2:30pm central time with the same link.

1 tablespoon plus 1/8 teaspoon dry active yeast
1 tablespoon sugar
1 whole egg
2 egg yolks
1 cup honey
1/4 cup oil
2 teaspoons salt
4-5 cups flour
Materials:
Large bowl
Baking sheet (the thicker the better)
Measuring spoons

Parchment paper – not necessary but foil isn’t a good substitute, better to bake bare
