Shabbat Service of Consolation and Strength
January 21, 2022 – 20 Shevat 5782
Life is with the community.
Yiddish Proverb
As we watched events unfold in Colleyville last weekend each of us prayed for a peaceful resolution. Late Saturday night our prayers were answered.
This week has been filled with talking to congregants, law enforcement, and our leadership about what those events mean to us going forward. In our community, I have been deeply touched by people who just wanted to talk. Someone mentioned wanting to hug our community and to commune with old and new friends in celebration of the hostages release. Others wanted to hear about what security steps were in place at CKA. Others just wanted to talk, to be listened to, and to process as best they could what happened.
My fellow congregants the Shabbat following such a trauma – fortunately ending in such a triumph – should be spent with our community. I encourage every family and congregants of all ages to join us for a Shabbat service of Consolation and Strength at 7:30 PM this Friday, January 21, 2022.
The Flower Mound police department will be providing security.
We will live our lives fully as Jews, unbowed and strong. I hope each of you can join us for this service as Congregation Kol Ami comes together as a community, and we gather in our sanctuary in fellowship without fear holding services as our people have done through the ages.
Am Yisrael Chai!
